Aleppo pine - prayer for peace in Syria
World news can suddenly become personal when one has made international friends via the Internet. Such is the case for me for the conflict in Syria because I have a dear Flickr friend in Damascus, poet and photographer Mohammad Hamwi. Mohammad and I have followed each other's work for a long time, starting well before the current ugly violence in Syria. Now when I hear news from Syria, it is personal as I worry about Mohammad and his family and friends. Today I am dedicating this photo of an Aleppo pine (Aleppo is the largest city in Syria) to Mohammad and all the people of Syria as a prayer for peace. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 70-300mm zoom at 190mm [380mm in full-frame 35mm equivalent], f/8, 1/250 sec., ISO 1600, open shade, handheld)
