Happy dahlia center
The dahlias at South Coast Botanic Garden (Palos Verdes Peninsula, California, USA) are just starting their blooming season and likely won't be at anything like peak for another week or two. I found exactly two flowers when I stepped into the dahlia garden after my Friday watercolor class, and this lovely specimen of the popular "Pooh" variety was one of them. The bright red and yellow always make me smile! I was shooting in shade and increased the ISO so as to be able to capture this macro view with a small aperture for depth. Some noise reduction applied (I use Imagenomic's Noiseware), but this is otherwise unmanipulated. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/16, 1/80 sec., ISO 1600, shade, handheld.)
