angel's trumpet inner sanctum

Note: I edited the upload date to bring this image to the top of my stream, as it received a noteworthy award on April 1, 2013!

April 1, 2013: This photo earned a Special Merit Award in the Photography & Digital Category of the March 2013 "Abstracts" juried art competition at the Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery. (The link will take you to this exhibition.) The competition drew 970 entries from around the world.

Apologies to my contacts for my absence, which is due to continued health issues.

The white angel's trumpets are blooming again at South Coast Botanic Garden, and one can smell their heady perfume upon entering their area. These are double blooms, a flower within a flower, and I held this one up with one hand while holding my camera in my other to capture the incredible beauty of the inner bloom lit from behind by the sun. You are looking straight into the bell of the trumpet. For context, I posted an older photo of an entire flower in the first comment box. (Zuiko 50mm macro, f/8, 1/500 sec., ISO 200, backlight from midday sun, handheld)
