one red leaf
I've been trying for a few weeks to capture the fiery look of young Japanese maple leaves backlit by morning sun at South Coast Botanic Garden. For whatever reason, "the look" has been eluding me. It was windy the other day, so I literally held the stem below the foreground leaf and shot with a wide aperture to blur the background and get a fast shutter speed. I added textures to further separate the leaf from its background (even though I let some of the texture remain in the leaf). (Zuiko 50mm macro, f/4.5, 1/800 sec., ISO 200, backlighting from morning sun, handheld) Textures courtesy of Shadowhouse Creations
