hiding behind mama's skirts

Sunday morning in the dahlia garden at South Coast Botanic Garden was rich with photo opportunities. I knew the title for this image as soon as I saw the relationship between the bud and the petals of the mature dahlia. That doesn't always happen, but I love it when it does because such moments speak to my heart. (Zuiko 50mm macro, f/8, 1/125 sec., ISO 400, filtered morning sun, handheld)

This image is special for another reason: it is the marker for 200,000 visits to my photo stream. (I had about 200 to go when I posted the photo around 8 p.m. PDT and reached the milestone shortly before 6 a.m.)

Thank you all for your visits, comments, faves and friendship! In honor of the occasion, I have decided to give something special to one of you: someone commenting on this image on July 29, 2010 (midnight to midnight GMT) will receive a signed 12"x12" print (unframed) of this image. To keep it fair, I will ask one of my co-workers to draw the winner! (The winner will have to respond within 48 hours with a mailing address [outside the USA is OK] to claim the print.)

ANNOUNCEMENT! The winner of a signed 12"x12"print of this photo is Showy Egret! Congratulations! (Her name was drawn by the Office Manager where I work.)

Large version -- definitely worth a click!
