gingko green (explored)
Flickr Explore #167 - November 21, 2009 - My 200th photo in Explore, thank you all for your visits and comments!
On a whim I visited Rancho Los Cerritos today. Without ever entering the historic adobe built in 1844 (and on the National Register of Historic Places), I happily wandered the grounds and found lots of photographic subjects. I was testing a new lens that had been on my wish list for a long time but suddenly came into reach thanks to an Olympus instant rebate and a gift certificate (won in a recent local photo contest) redeemable at my local dealer.
Many trees of venerable age grace the property. I spent a lot of time with a gingko tree that likely dates back to the mid-1800s. I can't explain why, but I have a fascination with fan-shaped gingko leaves. This was one of my better captures. (Zuiko 50mm ED Macro, f/2.8 at 1/125, handheld) (Long Beach, California USA)
