strange beetle

    Newer Older

I couldn't resist snapping a shot of this odd-looking beetle hanging out on a daisy. I thought he looked rather prehistoric, or perhaps like the improbable love child of a beetle and a very small turtle. :) (East Village community garden)

We call it a bug in french. They are almost green in our country. Funny shot.

We call these 'shield bugs'. There are hundreds of species and many change colour with the seasons. I don't recognise this one.
You've captured it in a great position.

This cool character is not an adult yet. It's not a beetle but a "true" bug, and, as Innpictime says, is a shield bug...or stink bug.

Thank you, dragonfly19x, for identifying this bug. Oh my, a stink bug! I'm glad I didn't upset him too much when capturing his picture.

Perhaps you will also know the identity of the caterpillar I posted a few minutes ago...
