pomegranate blooms in 4 stages

Another look at a pomegranate tree in bloom, remarkable because this cluster shows four stages at once: the young bud barely starting to open at the left, and a bud ready to unfurl its petals on the right. At the top, the fully open flower, and at bottom the spent bloom, petals dropped, pollenated center visible, ready to start growing into the fruit stage. (East Village community garden)
