A black hole

What else?

Black holes are a side product of the LHC as it seeks the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. We already know the answer to that question to be 42, but we need to know the question too, in order to advance our understanding of the deepest laws of nature.

This black hole was mostly harmless, refusing to suck me, my gear or capitali$m inside. It was laying around peacefully on the floor of the SMA18 facility. I guess engineers are using it as a protective cap for the superconducting magnets.

This shot wraps up the mini-series of images from the photo-walk at CERN. So long and thanks for all the fish!
