The Milky Way over the Lake
Long Pine Key Campground, Everglades National Park, FL
Ivan and I decided spur of the moment to head down to the Everglades Saturday night and try some night photography. I had wanted to do that for ages and Saturday the sky was relatively clear, the humidity was lower too and the moon wasn't rising until 2:37 am. So we expected to see lots of stars.
We first stopped at Long Pine Key and the Milky Way above the lake looked gorgeous.
Most of my shots didn't come out as well as I had hoped, so there's still lots of room for improvement. I changed my in camera settings to apply Long Exposure and High ISO Noise Reduction in camera. Not sure that was the right thing to do. I probably should have read the manual what the different settings mean... LOL
So next time I may try without and see what happens, especially as I didn't really do any exposures much longer than 30 seconds. And I have to be more careful with my focus. I must have bumped the focus ring as the first shots were more in focus than later ones... sheesh.
PS: Our little gator was there too and scared the bejesus out of me. Although he probably was more scared then I am. He took off when he saw me and I only jumped because he jumped, i.e. took off with a splash.
