Distribution of Rapid Diagnostic Test for Malaria in Haiti
To address the diagnostic needs for malaria, CDC procured 5,000 rapid diagnostic tests and, in collaboration with the MOH, distributed the test
kits and provided training to partners. After an assessment demonstrated the test kit’s high performance and ease of use in resource-limited settings, the national policy was amended
to include the three top performing test kits for malaria diagnostics. CDC subsequently procured 130,000 rapid diagnostic test kits which will be piloted in 90 facilities in 2012.
