Comet C/2017 T1 (Heinze) with a short fan tail 88 days prior to perihelion possible sunward dust feature

Edge on spiral galaxy NGC 2706 is in upper left corner.

Very bright mag 6.9 star SAO 136413 was at bottom center of field.

Comet C/2017 T1 (Heinze) was discovered by Aren Heinze, on 2017-Oct-02 at magnitude 18.2 with the ATLAS 0.5-m f/2.0 Schmidt telescope at Mauna Loa in the course of the "Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System" (ATLAS) search program.

 

Comet C/2017 T1 passes perihelion 2018 Feb. 21. at 0.581 AU.
