EXTRA! EXTRA! Read All About It!

Day 80 of 365 (Year Two)

LOST will just have to wait until tomorrow. Sorry guys, but when I got home tonight there was a package waiting for me from New York. I know one or two people who are living in New York, but none from the address on the package. I was a bit flummoxed about what it was. I opened it up and much to my surprise, it was Section D from the Rutland Daily Herald.

Awhile back a Flickr user named Katia had sent me a request to use this photo of Savanah for an article she was writing. I told her to go ahead and use it. This was all back in February.

The other day I got another e-mail from her saying the article had ran in a newspaper in Vermont and would I like a copy. Of course I said yes and then promptly forgot about it -- until today.

Now I'm sure there are many out there who have had stuff published, but for me this is a new experience. I'm thrilled, excited and amazed.

Savanah is much the same. She didn't know anything about it and when I pulled out the paper and showed it to her, she was speechless for the first time in her life. She just kept staring at the picture and her jaw kept dropping further and further. She was overwhelmed by the fact that her photo is in a newspaper. She got over that and is now rather proud about it.

I'm a bit proud of it too. I think I'm going to have it framed. Yeah, I'm a bit nuts like that, but hey, it is a first for me.

Katia, thanks for asking and thanks for following up with me. It really means a lot to all of us.
