The Giant Orange

    Newer Older

The Giant Orange is a Route 66 icon. Even though Bono's is closed, someone has been taking good care of the Giant Orange.

There is some more history of this place on the previous photo, Bono's and the Giant Orange

There it is! Glad to see it's being taken care of! We had a discussion about this on loungelistener's stream a while back after he spotted this one...

Thanks John. Here's a little photo link to loungelistener's Giant Orange in Florida. His has 3D leaves on it, rather than painted on!

What a pity. Thats the kind of thing that made traveling a wonderful, delightful thing. The regional eccentricities and local specialties.

Pete Zarria — I've seen some new construction that, while not full-blown Googie, does have some of the eccentricity of the places like this. It would be fun if there was a architectural revival.

Wow, I lived in Ontario for four years and had no idea I was so close to this much fame and history. Of course, I was a kid, so I didn't know much of anything.

Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Orange You Fond of Oranges?, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

Dina Marie — These, or variations of them, can probably be found in most of the Citrus Belt states.

Jibby! — Don't you hate that. I hate finding out about things that are someplace I spent a lot of time and never knew about.

      HotshotsSR1 — Thanks.

      rchrdcnnnghm — Thank you.

lidadrum — Did you ever stop to take a photo? It's hard to get photos of buildings and other objects that face north. :-(

I remember that place! Haha, what's up caveman? Long time no talk. I see you are still traveling around taking random pictures. Right on man! How have you been?

Jubala — I've been pretty good. How was the Air Force?
