• i kept the fabric in the hoop for a few days, just loosening the hoop a little when i wasn't stitching.

the linen is stretched and damaged a bit from this.

Pattern: spontaneous knotting in circles
Materials: washed/shrunk natural linen; DMC cotton embroidery floss
Techniques: 4-ply french knots
Stitchery size: 6" diameter

honestly, i just want to do more french knots now.

i packed the knots in as densely as possible in this one and so now i want to play with spacing and variations in sizes of knots.

This is awesome! It looks so much like a hooked rug. Now I want to try that.

Making lots of french knots strikes me as very therapeutic.

if you have a steamer you can get that wrinkle right out without harming the fabric. I use a steamer on everything I do when I finish. It gets the wrinkles out, all the loose threads and bits and it also cleans, deodorizes and disinfects. (I also use a steamer to clean everything!)
    Just a suggestion.

thanks everyone! i am hoping to recapture some of my joy of french knots this weekend with a new design.

i was transfixed for hours at a time. there was no better way to spend a few afternoons...and late late nights.

yep, i've already steamed this. unfortunately, i have damaged the flax fibers by stretching. this will need a full immersion bath to relax a bit.
