Halo Ringworld: DONE

10/8/2012: Welcome Kotaku and Reddit visitors! While you can get a good look at the landscape details from the above picture, this is not the completed, assembled Ringworld--just the four sections of the inner ring. You can find better photos here:

----

If I can figure out a way to properly display it within the next few weeks, this will be at BrickCon 2012.

I will also be entering it in the Design a Lego Halo Set contest, provided the admins don't take one look at this and go "uh, this is not what we had in mind". ;)

These are the inner ring (landscape) segments, which have been my stumbling block for quite a long time. The outer ring (hull) is not pictured here, but you can see it in the WIP set. I might need to adjust the length of the inner ring by a little bit one way or the other once I try fitting it into the outer ring, but that's why I left myself open stretches of ocean and ice that I could expand or contract as needed.

Now to figure out how to set it up and photograph it...

I completely forgot about this!! it's amazing!!
  • Rank 3 Assembly Engineer 3y

Can you still bend it into a ring form?
  • Catsy [CC] 3y

Rank 3 Assembly Engineer Of course! That was the whole point. :)

Yay I can't wait to see it there
Can you make a few micro scale space crafts to go with it?
  • Your best friend in the whole world. 3y

Can't wait to see this in person. <3.

Rank 3 Assembly Engineer You wouldnt be able to see them. A Halcyon-class cruiser like the Pillar of Autumn is just over a kilometer in length. Each stud on this model is 32 square kilometers. Even a Covenant assault carrier would be barely larger than a grain of sand.

i thought you gave it up!

    THANK YOU :D

    Wooooooow.

    Amazing work!
  • Chris McCloskey 3y

Good grief! Is there enough play in the pieces to curve it? :D
  • Catsy [CC] 3y

Chris McCloskey With the exception of an error that someone highlighted and which I'll fix, yes there is.

Catsy [CC] If you manage to pull it off, I think you might just win the Internet!

I was planning on eventually making one of these after playing through the Halo CE Anniversary edition; only my plan was on a much larger scale... (I was going to use baseplates for the inner planet area) I still don't have the kind of money to accomplish such a feat though :( I must congratulate you on getting the set finished long before I ever will and I must say I really like the miniature terrain! Great work as usual!

Sorry to be ignorant, but this is going to wrap around into a ring shape, yes? That'll be cool!
  • Jason 3y

    Woah. This is sweet.
  • Tanner Jon A. 3y

YES! I was afraid you had given up this project a year or so ago! :D
  • Paul Teason 3y

Add a mini Pillar of Autumn and a mini CCS Covenant Cruiser
  • roostur 3y

HELL YEAH, BUDDY!! I can't wait to see it put together and on display! Just in time for Halo 4, btw. :)
  • Camden 3y
