Samantha Carter (Stargate SG-1)

Newer Older

The vest is a modified version of my minifig-scale SG-1 tac vests, slimmed down a bit for a minidoll. The rest is maybe an hour of painting.

I declare win.

No complaints here- you've mastered the look and customization of Friends!

Just scored about 20 friends sets at 30% off.

Ok, like everyone else has said, this is just full of win. I have a suggestion for when you have finished making the Firefly characters. Alice, Claire, and Jill from the Resident Evil Movies, and possibly some other characters from the games if you see fit.

Hm, sudden surge of traffic on a week-old photo where the initial traffic has died off... *looks* Yep, blogged. Thanks for the highlight, Dan! :)

An update on further custom Friends: I did a little bit of work on Zoe during the Snowpocalypse, using Andrea as a base. Once I get around to painting her I think she'll be pretty easy, but in the meantime I've been having difficulty getting her vest and leg holster the way I want, and I'm too stubborn to compromise and just paint them on.

I'm also realizing that I have no minifig hands that are quite the same shade as her skin, so I'll probably cheat and use black ones and call them gloves.

Also, it should surprise absolutely no one that I'm working on a Chell minidoll.

One of the main reasons I went with minifig hands rather than trying to graft the cut Friends hands back on was to preserve the angle at which minifig hands hold things, which means that accessories like the CPDW whch are designed to nestle into the crook of a minifig's elbow work just as well on custom Friends.

Leg holster was an issue I was having and I felt the same about painting it on. I dont think it has that same cool factor.

Nice job ... where did you get this handly hexaplate ?

They are a custom piece that Will (Brickarms) molded for Catsy to use for table-top gaming.

And eventually I will be making them available for sale to the public. Will is the designer but they are not a Brickarms product.
