Self-Portrait: Something Wicked This Way Comes

Film still for imaginary film "Something Wicked This Way Comes"

Lens: Canon EF S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

Camera: Canon 60D

Light: 430EX II camera left in a 43-inch umbrella zoomed to 24mm at full power, 580EX II in a Lumiquest LTP softbox camera right zoomed to 24mm (I wanted harder light to mimic headlights of on oncoming car or truck) at 1/2 power, a splash of 60D’s flash for fill

ISO: 640

Focal Length: 35 mm

f-stop: 10

Shutter Speed: 1/250 of a second

Clothes: Scorpion EXO-400 helmet, Cortech motorcyle jacket

Inspiration: Tron Legacy, Cindy Sherman’s Untitled Film Stills. Sherman’s film stills recreate archetypes of fictional femininity by showing the artist as different B-movie heroines at seemingly key moments of imaginary films. After seeing her recent show at the MOMA, I was fascinated by the idea, specifically its application to sci-fi or action movie heroines, the Trinities, the Ripleys, the Willows.
