St Michael’s originally dates back to the Norman period, however, the building that now survives dates from around 1464, when a charter by Henry VI provided for the rebuilding of the church. It has always had a close association with the Percy family, the Dukes of Northumberland. The Dukes have been and continue to be the patrons of St Michaels.

I love the powerful and saturated colours employed by the artist.
