of finger-pricking work, and it's finally finished!

Hand pieced, hand quilted, in 100% cotton with a fluffy "minkee" border for extra tactile-y goodness. It measures about 40"x40" in total (crib quilt size), with squares ranging from 1.5" square to 9" square. The pattern is "Jewelled Squares" from Kaffe Fassett's "Glorious Patchwork" (he made it up in reds as an unbacked, unquilted curtain). Quilting was done down the centre of each fabric strip, making concentric squares of quilting for each square (you can see this better on the photo of the back of the quilt).

Updated: In February 2008, Sew Mama Sew did a Quilting Month series, and this quilt was showcased on Feb 16. Click on the link to read my answers to their questions about the quilt: sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=352.

have you started a second quilt? I really like this. a friend gave me a bag of scraps and I am floating squares like this on black fabric. I hope it turns out as beautiful as this one. I may never get mine done though...congrats on a 1st finish. That is always an accomplishment no matter how long it takes!

Lovely quilt and such wonderful colours - those blues really sing out! I hope Kaffe himself does a bit of Flickr browsing sometimes and comes across it.

This is stunning! I am working on the same quilt, only using the same color scheme as the original. I can't imagine piecing it all BY HAND! I'm not even sure about quilting it by hand, because of all the thick seams...it must have been nearly impossible in places - I'm in awe!
