This is the church that I grew up going to.And right across from it was a small 2 room elementary school that I went to until grade 6.Then it was up to St.Peter's for high school.

The last time I was in this church was in January '09 for my brother's funeral service...not a good last memory of here.He was only 46 years old when he died of cancer. But he did not let his death be in vain.He not only had cancer, but diabetes and heart problems. He had had heart surgery in '08 before he was diagnosed with cancer. The operation didn't take and was on a waiting list for another surgery. They called in November of '08 for him to go in for his surgery and he said since he had just been given 6 months to live because of the cancer that he wanted to make the most of the time he had left.Unfortunately,it turned out to be only a month and a half later when he died. But he had made arrangements with the University in Halifax to donate his body for research in hopes that some day it would help someone else. I am (and always have been) so proud of him for thinking of others when he was in such pain.Even up to the last,he was always joking with people when they went to visit him, trying to make them feel better,no matter how bad he felt. His ashes were later returned and are now buried in the cemetary at this church.I will love and miss him always. He is up there with my parents(whom had passed away before hime, but not by much) and my sister(who passed away last spring).Three of them from that dreaded "C" word and my dad from 2 strokes complicated by pneumonia. Sorry for the ramble...guess it's one of those days.
