      Thanks for the comment!
Yes I was thinking of cropping the girl too, but then I realized that without a "human subject" it loses all sense of perspective. Although I would have preferred a different angle, I think the girl adds a bit more to the photo.

      Cheers!

Hope you don't mind, I'm doing a bit of research for Yi Peng 2011 and am trying to figure out where to go see these magnificent displays of floating lanterns.

Where were these taken in or near Chiang Mai?

      Thanks.

      Hi ,

Yes the best place to watch the lantern release during Yi Peng is North of Thailand, near Chiang Mai in a town called Mae Jo. They have a huge festival with hundreds of people releasing the lanterns at the same time after a Buddhist ceremony.
      Truly beautiful moment.

Hi Daniel, any idea when the Yi Peng festival will be this year? Still at Maejo University?

      Hi!
No idea exactly when but it will be mid-November probably.
The festival can be seen from everywhere but yes, they will do it again at Mae Jo probably, that's where the most lanterns are released at the same time.
