• Sorry to note on my own shot here, but I thought it was interesting how Two Union (right) looks taller than Bank of America Tower (left), though BoA has twenty floors on it!

Seattle from South Lake Union

Looking South from the South Lake Union Neighborhood. I don't know about this one... the HDR just looks way too cartoonish.

See I like this . It has more of a surreal look but the separation is there. Feels like a water color. BTW what is HDR I am not all Photo shop savvy.

HDR (high dynamic range) is a compilation of a few different exposures (varying shutter speed, aperture, or exposure compensation). It's accomplished relatively automatically using the AEB setting on your camera. My Digital Rebel XT takes a symmetrical set of three shots, with one at normal exposure, one under-exposed, and one over-exposed. Your D200 allows up to 9, I believe, at 1/3, 1/2, or full-stop increments. The different levels of exposure each capture different important details which are then algorithmically compiled using software such as Photoshop or Photomatix. I typically use Photomatix to pull them together because of the built-in tone mapping (this is what gives the vibrant colors), but it's easy to get carried away it. The reason I don't like this one much is that aside from finding a nice shooting location on a rooftop it really didn't take much skill to put it all together... I mean, any bozo can run a filter, right?

I kinda like the HDR. It looks like a city planning drawing for future neighbourhoods.

I like cartoon-ish looking stuff, too.
