The characteristic mussiro ‘white face mask’ is traditionally made from the bark of a tree and painted onto the face using a coconut husk brush, the gentle paste ensures skin is protected from the sun and when removed leaves skin silky soft. The Mussiro mask is typically traditional to northern Mozambique and is the exotic and beautiful mask that many of the women wear daily.
