Panasonic G VARIO 20mm lens sample image at f1.7 (closer to match 25mm samples)

    Newer Older

Sample image taken with the Panasonic G VARIO 20mm lens at f1.7 mounted on a Panasonic Lumix G3 body.

Photo taken at f1.7, the maximum for this lens. The shot was taken from a tripod, but moved closer to the subject to match the face size in the 25mm samples in this sequence.

It's funny, but the f1.7 looks sharper at it's maximum aperture than the f1.4 does. That may be more due to the laws of physics than optical quality. It might be educational to shoot a pair of portraits, both at f1.8 or something, one with each lens? I find that the panny f1.7 does it's best work from about 1.8-5.6 or so. Love shooting video with the 1.7, it's a great cheap cine-prime in my opinion.

I'll be doing some sharpness comparisons between the lenses soon!

Nice image -- love the contrast, color, and balancing abstract shapes!
