Let there be light
Reading Room, Cambridge University Library.
Great article on Libraries and Light in the recent issue of University's Research Horizons magazine. To quote: " 'What is ‘good reading light’? The phrase conjures up an image of a reader near a window, book to hand, the page in question turned towards the light. What the image implies is that the relationship of the reader to the light, the book and the room is important – in other words, that good conditions for reading are a matter of spatial geometry as well as sufficient illumination".
