Love Locks on Accademia Bridge - Venice

This Bridge was fantastic, there were hundreds of padlocks attached to the handrail, and it was so quaint, i had to capture it. They're called love locks, each one is put on by a couple in love, and they inscribe/engrave their names upon it. They then attach the lock to the bridge and throw the key into the waters below, so both the two people, and the two parts of the lock, are never to separate.

I picked these two for the sheer size difference, and even though one is bigger than another, you can see all the other locks around them, and you can just tell that no one is more or less than another. It really was a pretty sight, and i may upload a video so you can see just how many there are. Unfortunately, this is illegal, and the italian authorities are fining people recently for doing this, with fines as steep as €3000 - i suppose it's the price of love.

Well done if you've managed to read this far! i don't normally write this much, but i've just come off holiday so am a bit too chatty, but i may start to write like this, just to explain my photos.
