Vintage Juan Reus Bullfighting Lithograph, circa 1950

Vintage bullfight lithograph by Juan Reus Parra, the Spanish artist who was described as "the ultimate bullfighting Impressionist." The print of Reus's painting, which dates to about the 1950s, was sold as part of a set of Reus prints titled "Toreros: Authentic Spanish Bullfight Prints" (a tourist item, I'd imagine). Reus's signature is in the lower right.

Reus was born in 1912 in Valencia, where he became a well-known painter, draftsman, and graphic designer. In the forties, he was hired as a designer of bullfighting posters in the lithographic workshop Ortega, where he met Roberto Domingo (a major bullfighting artist of the 1920s), who became his teacher and model. Reus died in 2003.
