Campbell Albatross, Wollongong Pelagic 26.4.08 (55)a

These albatross were very common around the boat on this months Wollongong Pelagic.

Some authorities still combine this and Balck-browed Albatross as one species, but a lot of people now separate them. This species breeds in New Zealand and differs from the Black-browed in having a pale eye and more black in the underwing.

The younger birds have dark bills that grow lighter with age.

Feeding on the burley we threw off the boat.
