I collect old postcard of rodeo riders and other interesting women. This woman, Bonnie McCarroll, was a very popular performer who competed in numerous categories. Women's events were commonplace in the 1920s. However, McCarroll was later killed in a fall from a horse. This took place at the Pendleton Round-up in 1929. Her death, coupled with other social changes, resulted in fewer rodeo events for women for decades to come. To see more images and read a little history, visit my website.
