Signs of Madison's Tea Party: "Obama's Plan White Slavery"

Sad.

Yes, the Huffington Post badly misattributed this. The same Doyle sign is clearly in both, which makes this unquestionably a Madison locale and not Chicago, as they claim. It's also currently reproduced without proper attribution in their photostream.
  • cometstarmoon 6y

Holy crap. Huffingtonpost totally stole my photo. WTF?!
  • cometstarmoon 6y

    Resolved, HuffPo apologized:

    Hi Jesse,

Sorry for this mixup. The caption will be changed and you will receive the attribution you receive.

    Thanks,

    Matt

Thanks medusasquirrel and madolan for catching this.

    Jesus H. Chist!

Looking at the photos of these Tea-bag people on the Huffington Post, I want to walk up to them smack them in the head for being so dumb.
Honestly? White slavery? Seriously? How can anyone in america think something so profoundly… i have no words for this. Truly disgusting.
  • babaleo 6y

I faved it so that for all time people that browse my favs will be able to see the extent to which the wing nuts have degraded into a bunch of ignorant hateful sore losers.
  • I Moved 6y

The Tea Parties were amazing. I have never seen so many patriots in one area, for one cause, treating everyone with respect. Sure, there were some offensive signs - but I didn't notice any at the Tea Party I attended. USA USA USA.
  • I Moved 6y

Oh, and don't let one sign you don't like taint the meaning behind our peaceful rallies. No harm was done - and free speech sucks. When you're on the OTHER side of the opinion. Don't hate.

The only reason these people are ptotesting because they can not stand having an African American president. These people do not care for this country but care for their hurt feelings of having Mr. Brack Obama the African American as their president.
People face it BARACK OBAMA is your president and will be the president for 8 years if your like it or not.
***God bless America and it's president. President Barack Obama***

Special thanks to the Atlantic for being the first major publication to properly link to this photo!

Do these people even know what "white slavery" actually refers to?

    1) Looking at the photos of these Tea-bag people on the Huffington Post, I want to walk up to them smack them in the head for being so dumb.

Do these people even know what "white slavery" actually refers to?

There is only one sign in this photo. One ignorant person should not be held up as a representative of the whole group. Even other photos I have seen where there are offensive signs does not mean everyone in that photo or at those rallies/protests feels the same as those ignorant people. The majority of the people at the Tea Parties are not represented in these photos, which focus on the sensational in order to discredit the legitimate concerns of average citizens faced with decisions they disagree with, and have every right to express.

    2) The only reason these people are ptotesting because they can not stand having an African American president. These people do not care for this country but care for their hurt feelings of having Mr. Brack Obama the African American as their president.

Nice way to ignore the real issues and use race as a reason that a group of people might not favor an administration/government that is getting too powerful and abusing it's rights accorded by the Constitution it swore to uphold.

wow. I am truly surprised that someone in Madison is carrying such a sign. It must be someone who drove down from one of the backwater WI cities.
  • Karen Green 5y

"Only one sign"? Yeah, only one sign in THIS photo. Look at some of the other photos in the stream. Heck, just look at the signs in the photos on either side of this photo!

Did any of the "peaceful majority" condemn these people? Make them feel unwelcome? Explain that they were perverting the intention of the rally?

This picture was used in the video for the "f*ck tea" campaign. Third image.

Katie Krueger Because he's hellbent on driving this country into the ground. It has little to with the color of his skin and everything to do with his actions. Black people are the ones that support him based merely on his skin color, and every time someone criticizes the Obama adminsitration they're instantly labeled a racist.
