Giant Sequoia Lands Coalition General Sherman Tree Event

On May 21, 2024, members of the Giant Sequoia Lands Coalition held a media event at the General Sherman Tree in Sequoia National Park to explain the emerging threat of bark beetles. The event also saw the first ever climbing of the General Sherman Tree to survey for bark beetle damage. No threat was found in the General Sherman Tree itself, however, Giant Sequoia across the range are seeing increased bark beetle activity.
