Cowboy by Firelight (B&W)
Dave - barefoot horse trimmer, cowboy poet, teacher, friend.
If you ever want to push your photographic skills, come join us at the Get Pushed group where you are assigned a partner and challenged to try new things. In Round 25, I was partnered with twirly, fellow-Canadian Ruth (aka ruthless crab) who issued the following challenge:
Would love to see a black and white stranger portrait. Preferably of someone older -- someone with lots of character, wrinkles, history. It can't be a sneak-and-shoot; you need to talk to her/him and tell us a sentence or two about about them.
I'm not sure that Dave would consider himself "older", but he's got a few years on me and is definitely wise, so I think that qualifies him as a subject for this challenge. And, he's no longer a "stranger" as we spent a gruelling week together at a barefoot trimming clinic in Saskatchewan. He's an inspiring teacher with a wealth of experience and horse-savvy, a true role model for those of us who enjoy working with horses.
I hope this meets the spirit of the push Ruth. It's been a pleasure working with you!
