Pocket door w/o a pocket

FAQ: www.biscade.com/office/

The office door. The contractor was dubious about building a pocket door without a pocket, but it came out well.

I....don't...understand how that works. Now there is smoke coming out of my ears! No Pocket....otherwise a great office set! You must be important.

The door slides through the 8" of wall into nothing (see the track at the top? I added a note).

Important - No, not important. Just fortunate, anal, imaginative, and driven enough to pull it off. Probably not in that order though. Anal probably goes first. :-)

I can hear the conversation now. "I want a pocket door without a pocket"

It'd be cool if the pocket door just slid into/out of existence. Think I might design a door that does that.

I just discovered this office courtesy of a link from stefandidak.com's office page, and went through this entire set in slideshow mode.

Once I got to this picture, I thought, "that door's automated," especially after I saw the handle, for some reason. But it isn't, is it? :(

    Automate it! Nao! :D

    Interesting idea--I hadn't thought of that :-) It's, uh, manual. :-)

I Love the Sliding door with no pocket that a cool idea and if it comes off the track it an easy fix.

If you make it automatic, you have to make it make the Star Trek sliding door noise.
