Remington and Sons in Ilion Gorge, NY (above - factory in 1854); 1888 - acquired by Marcus Hartley and Partners, major sporting goods chain; May 1933 - majority interest acquired by DuPont; 1993 - acquired by Clayton, Dubilier, and Rice for $300 million; 2007 - acquired by Cerberus Capital $118 million; oldest company in United States which still makes its original product, oldest continuously operating manufacturer in North America, only U.S. manufacturer of both firearms, ammunition products; one of largest domestic producers of shotguns, rifles.
