birdcage lamp

I'm always reading those magazine articles about how to repurpose old stuff, and it's always stuff you'd probably have to pay an arm and a leg for at a flea market ... not useless junk you've got lying around. So the article will say something like "Turn an antique bird cage into a lamp shade!" And I'll be all like "where in the hell am I going to get an antique bird cage?" But in this case, I actually found an antique bird cage on the sidewalk in Chicago years ago (it was all rusty and gross but I cleaned it up and painted it). Yesterday, I had this bright idea ... (I need to make a cover for the ugly cord now .)

The projection on the ceiling is awesomeness.

That's a really cool birdcage. Isn't that the way though. They are tearing down all of these really cool old birdhouses and replacing them with bird condos.

And thanks, Dog Shouterer (most awesome Flickr name!)
