The Cannon Blast at Fort Pulaski
The Fort Pulaski National Monument is located between Savannah, GA and Tybee Island. The fort took roughly 18 years to construct and was the pinnacle of defensive technology once completed.
However, when the fort was attacked 15 years later by Union soldiers, a new technological advancement – rifled cannons – proved too much for the fort's defenses which were compromised after only 30 hours of bombardment.
This picture shows a group of reenactors firing a rifled cannon at Fort Pulaski.
The picture was actually taken from an off-limits part of the fort (the yard) while the demonstration was taking place. The camera was triggered remotely using a MIOPS wireless remote and my phone.
The picture was edited in Photoshop CC where a wet plate effect was added with Google Nik's Analog Efex Pro 2.
