    hoppy little hexapods

      Pls, can you confirm that the springtails were really hopping around?
      At first sight these specimens look like Anurida. A genus of springtails without a springing device.

      Hi Frans,

      I don't seem to recall if they actually hopped or not (let me check with a companion), but they were sort of moving about on the surface film of a tiny tidal pool surrounded by rocks on a mainly sandy shore. Size 3-4 mm.

      Thanks, Budak. Given the habitat description and the size, most probably it are members of Neanuridae. They have the aspect of Anurida.
      Hypogastruridae look-alikes are much smaller.
