Near Monclova, Ohio, and at the start of our walk to Wauseon, Ohio, on the trail made from the old rail bed. It was a nice quiet, summer morning, and the fog appeared over this area of the Black Swamp. The woods contain many areas where swampy land still exists, especially in the wooded areas. As you get closer to Oak Openings Metropark swamps can be seen on the one side of the trail and oak savannahs on the other. To me the oak savannahs are spookier than the swamps, since they are sand dunes or hillocks, with sparse grass, flowers and cactus, interspersed with giant oaks every 100 feet or so.
