I'm real proud of this shot because of the hike it took to get there. It had been raining on and off (more on) all day. Looking forward to seeing the lakes the weeks prior, I couldn't pass up on the opportunity. After physically and mentally preparing myself at the trailhead for 7 miles of precip and slippery hiking, there was fortunately only 30 minutes of rain throughout the hike.
As excited as I was during the last leg, I worried about the prospect of good lighting. The clouds were voluminous and were covering the entire sky. After arriving and scouting out this beautiful oasis that I had all to myself, within five minutes the sky suddenly lifted and left its beautiful late afternoon sun. Doesn’t get much more celestial than that.
