Three Lakes 1

Three Lakes are a set of small upland Wicklow lakes of which, despite the name, there seems to be only two. A few hundred metres north west of Table Mountain, they can be tricky to find in the alien landscape of peat hags which obscure any of view of them until you are within 100 metres - unless of course you approach from Table Mountain or Conavalla. The easiest way is to follow the track up towards Table Mountain and then take a right hand fork in the Avonbeg and follow that up to the top. With the weather the way it's been, I just had to get up here today. Like Lough Firrib, it's not easy to get shots of these lakes because of the absence of nearby higher ground and, in the barren bog landscape, the lack of any other features to include in the shot. Still trying to figure out the hills at the back - Moanbane / Mullaghcleevaun?
