RAINBOW TROUT | by Aquila-chrysaetos

A 12"in. Rainbow I caught out of a local park pond.So here is the ethical dilemma I had to face. The pond I caught these in is in a city park, that apparently no one else had thought to fish before, and the trout are good sized and naive. Normally I would put them back so as to have more good fishing in the future. But these are non-native trout, and they pose a very real danger of competing and hybridizing with our native Cutthroat Trout, which do live in the same creek, see , so I decided it would be better to remove them to help give our Cutthroat a competitive edge. If there were not Cutthroat in this creek, I would have left them to fight another day. I personally feel that all non-native trout should be mandatory to keep in a body of water know to have native trout, to give the natives a competitive advantage. I also feel that all stocking of non-native fish should cease. Enough damage has been done already.
