Beer Here Dark Hops

A glass of Dark Hops from Beer Here in Copenhagen, Denmark, at Håndverkerstuene in Oslo.

I've tasted the Dark Hops from bottle earlier, but not from draft like this. Dark Hops is an 8,5% abv stout which has been hopped like an India Pale Ale to 80 IBU, thus making it a beer in the emerging beer style India Black Ale aka Black IPA aka Cascadian Dark Ale. It was brewed at the Nøgne Ø brewery in Grimstad, Norway.

The Dark Hops poured a pitch black color with a massive brown head. Wonderful aroma of caramel, cocoa, licorice and resinous hops. Full bodied with a smooth, creamy texture. Flavor started out with a good dose of sweet malt, roasted malt and dark chocolate. Then the hops kicked in to balance the sweetness, good bitterness. Nice bitter finish with some lingering chocolate. A rich but lovely draft beer and a great Black IPA.
