Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier

Two glasses of Hefe-Weissbier from Spaten-Franziskaner-Bräu on draft at Caféministeriet in Aalborg, Denmark.

The Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier is a classic, unfiltered Bavarian wheat beer of 5% abv. Despite being owned by brewing giant InBev, this beer retains its original high quality.

It poured a hazy orange color with a massive white head. Fresh, citrusy wheat aroma with mild floral hops and some yeast. Good carbonation, a medium light mouthfeel. Flavor started out with a light caramel sweetness that played well with the citrusy wheat character. The yeast and mild hops blended in really well and made this a very harmonic, tasty and refreshing wheat beer. Almost as good as the world leader from Weihenstephan.
