Nøgne Ø Skog & Mark
A bottle of Skog & Mark from Nøgne Ø in Grimstad at Bergen Ølfestival 2014.
Nøgne Ø Skog & Mark is a limited edition release, brewed after a request from Bent Borge Hansen, the kitchen chef at Sundvolden Hotel, who asked Nøgne Ø to brew a "real Norwegian" beer with local ingredients for his hotel. The result is a 6.5% a ale spiced with nettles, lavender, lovage and fresh spruce shots. Nøgne Ø secured a few cases for themselves to showcase at festivals.
The beer poured a clear golden yellow color with a white head. It sported a wonderful spicy aroma, reminding me of a spicy saison with floral notes. It had a soft texture, nice carbonation. It sported a green almost moss like flavor with nettle and herbal notes, I also got hints of dried orange peel in the finish. A lovely beer that should go perfect with wild game dishes.
