Photographed on Cavendish Beach, Prince Edward Island at sundown, June 26, 2010.
My plan the entire day was to go photograph some sunset photos of Cavendish; not 3 minutes after I left our rental cottage, the sky opened up and started pouring. Annoyed, I went and grabbed a newspaper but then thought, "what the hell...". I drove down to the beach and decided to wait - worse comes to worse I'd learn a little about the world in the process.
Patience paid off, and about 15 minutes after the rain drove streams of people off the beach, it stopped, and over the next hour I was treated to one of the nicest sunsets of my life. Spectacular.
Technical info: this was photographed with approximately 3-stops of stacked GND filters to hold back the bright sky and still expose for the shadows. 2.5-second exposure @ F16, ISO 100.
