to protect and defend

Newer Older

When I was teaching at the After Dark convention in Charlotte a couple weeks ago I got to meet some new special friends, Lila and her daughter Kayla. I have never photographed a child before, and I was a little nervous about it...though I soon found out there was no need. Kayla is absolutely a pro, no questions about it. She can take direction, she knows her angles (which was unbelievable to me), and she even follows models in the industry (her favorite being Coco)...and she is only 5 years old. I tried out another concept with her, but it didn't work out how I wanted so I decided to go the alternate route and expand upon this animal series that is growing. this image definitely goes with the one posted before it, which I shot before leaving for NC.

To protect, to defend, to become one or to be clearly alienated...with animals, with nature...These are some themes I am playing with these days.

Not entirely sure how, but as I flipped through various flickr settings I noticed that all comments were deleted and turned off for this photo...Oh Flickr, always confusing me...so I'm leaving it off to be fair but do appreciate those who left comments before! :-D
