written in sand
This was taken while on a most incredible trip to the Salton Sea and sand dunes. No words can describe what this picture means to me, though I did try to write a blog post about it. Lots of behind the scenes pictures as well.
Today I am going to a reception for the opening of the Digital Darkroom show at the Annenberg Space for Photography. I really hate promoting things sometimes (self promotion blah blah blah) but this time is different. I really believe in this show and the other artists featured. I went to preview it yesterday and left feeling inspired to push myself harder and to explore the limits of digital photography and editing...though even saying "limits" is very wrong....the point of the show is that there are no limits, and these people that I get to show with prove that. Some of my prints are next to Maggie Taylor and Jerry Uelsmann who I got to meet yesterday...a complete pinch me moment. The other highlight: Russell Brown, a creator of Photoshop, gave a speech to the artists yesterday and said "If you are in this show, it is because I want to be you"....I can die happy. I couldn't have asked for a more amazing moment to have in my life.
Anywho...enough of that, I know how annoying it is to read business stuff when you're trying to look at a picture. I feel really strongly about the show so I wanted to get that out. Here is a trailer for the show with bits taken from the documentary that runs throughout the day while the show is open.
