Jewish cemetary, Essaouira, Morocco

Although the Jewish community left Essaouira towards the end of the 1950s, we saw several graves that were as recent as the 90s. Maybe Jews from Casablanca or overseas who had been born in Essaouira, or whose families and ancestors were buried there, may have asked to be buried back in Essaouira. Some graves had been recently visited.

We were not allowed to take photographs in the Christian cemetary across the road but no-one was looking here so we took a few photographs.
