UK 1967 Policewomen Metropolitan Police

1967 - London police women posing in new uniforms.

These outfits were designed by Norman Hartnell and proved extremely unpopular! They were basically couture suits and many felt the design required a particular figure to work. It was also argued that it emphasized style over practicality - as in the cape and white gloves.

But, all things being equal, it was a very chic uniform in a "Nanny and the Professor" sort of way :)
